Famine? If the ice caps do melt, and the average temperatures do rise, we're looking at lots more water and arable land available, at least to my thinking. All that Canadian and Russian permafrost thawing out and becoming habitable.

Course, I'm not a scientist. But I figure I can whip up a graph real quick to prove my wild ass guess.

jsid-1285999799-88  Jeroen Wenting at Sat, 02 Oct 2010 06:09:59 +0000 in reply to jsid-1285999318-584

Britt, the best way to solve famine is to kill a few million people (or a few hundred million).
Worked wonders for Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot. No reason it won't work for Al Gore.

What did I take away from that?

A sincere urge to begin carrying everywhere I go (which would be troublesome, given that I'm behind enemy lines here in California), with an almost paranoid urgency to draw and fire anytime I hear the words "No pressure".

Not that I'll do that. I won't. But the "message" in this is "Do it or we'll kill you", and you can be damn sure that if our civilization ever devolves to that (which it won't), I won't be taken out so complacently.

I mean, what could this possibly be taken as other than a declaration of war against people who don't share your ideaology?

Please forgive me, I don't generally like saying things like that, but this video is hardly meant to provoke a robust debate on the issues at hand and the facts supporting either or both sides. This is pure, emotional fear-mongering. Whoever put this video together has more-or-less acknowledged that their argument is hollow and has been debunked too thoroughly for any further discussion; they're also not willing to give up because they have "FAITH" that their way is the right way, and everyone else is an evil sinner.

I wonder, would this guy, 150 years ago, have been a fire-and-brimstone preacher?

No offense meant by the "preacher" comment to those of an honest Christian faith.

It seems they have forgotten the simple fact that if you try to kill us, we get to kill you right back. Oh, and our side has most of the guns. Good effing luck. It is enough to make me want to increase my carbon emissions just as an up yours.

I had a hard time believing Richard Curtis could possibly have been serious about this - so I typed "Richard Curtis no pressure" into Google.  The first story to come up was this one:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/8038113/Richard-Curtis-and-an-explosion-of-publicity.html

Here's the final two paragraphs:

"Curtis had talked enthusiastically about the campaign. “The 10:10 team are a fearless, energetic bunch, completely dedicated to getting the public fired up about climate change. They also turn out to be surprising good at blowing stuff up,” he said on its release.

Franny Armstrong, 10:10 founder, said the shock tactics were justified. “We 'killed’ five people to make No Pressure - a mere blip compared to the 300,000 real people who now die each year from climate change.”"

Well, they "shocked" me alright...  I'm shocked they are so brazen about their goals.  I know I shouldn't be, as I have a degree in History and have been reading about how these things have been said - and implemented - throughout the world for decades now.  But to see it currently, from someone who I (used to) respect - as well as the 3rd video, which really got my blood boiling - is, well, shocking to me...

Is it even possible to have a rational conversation with people who have gone this far in their thinking?  Is persuasion back (assuming they ever understood it in the first place) to some basic understanding of individual rights, liberty & free will even possible?  And if not, what options are left to those of us who will not submit to their world view?

jsid-1286048452-707  juris_imprudent at Sat, 02 Oct 2010 19:40:53 +0000 in reply to jsid-1286013239-426

Is it even possible to have a rational conversation with people who have gone this far in their thinking?

Probably not until they've seen one of their fellow zealots get ventilated whilst serving The Cause.  Up to that point they are sustained by their faith.  Only after their faith is properly shaken will they begin to question what they are doing.  At THAT point you may have a rational conversation with one; as long as they are in full up zealot mode - not possible.  This is sad, but not surprising to anyone who actually observes how human beings act (as opposed to believing in some beautiful lie about human behavior).

To the young man in this video, I have but this to say.  Old age and treachery will overcome your youth.

God, the vehemance in his voice left me with a visceral reaction to administer rapid lead poisoning right between his eyes.

Oh well, I think I'll go practice 10:10 with shooting 10 ten round magazines at some "green" targets.

Oh man, you are not the only one. He certainly looked as if he'd be the type to strap a bomb to his chest immediately after filming such a piece.

Even if it was "just a job" to this kid—and I suspect none of us will ever know one way or the other—the simple fact is that this tone was deliberate. Someone wrote the words. An entire production staff worked to film and finalize it. There was a director who made sure this tone was exactly what he wanted. There were money people who paid to get this piece made and signed off on it. The sentiment expressed is very, very real.

If we're ever in the unfortunate position of having to defend ourselves from someone expressing this attitude, the odds are extremely long that the goblin will be someone with any direct connection to the production of this piece, let alone the owner of that face.

Could be. The left in general is by no means above using kids to advance its agenda. No doubt there are those even just slightly older than him that could have made that video because they actually believe it, though.

The kid didn't make me angry. The thought of how badly his parents had to abuse his mind in order for him to be that way? -- THAT chapped my hide. Those people should be in prison for doing that to a child.

jsid-1286030315-567  Ed "What the" Heckman at Sat, 02 Oct 2010 14:38:35 +0000

From the article:

"In a statement, the organisation said: “With climate change becoming increasingly threatening, and decreasingly talked about in the media, we wanted to find a way to bring this critical issues back into the headlines whilst makgin people laugh.

“Many people found the resulting film extremely funny, but unfortunately some didn’t…”"

…because we recognize that killing people on a whim is evil. What's especially disturbing to me is that they don't seem to even recognize such basic morality. In other words, they're sociopaths who claim to be civilized.

I agree with Greg. That last Greenwar video is a call for everyone to begin carrying everywhere. That was the face of pure evil. Dead behind the eyes. Colorless. Dark. Full of hatred. And promising deadly violence.

The true believers of environmentalism always seem to come around to the "solution" of killing all the humans. Their evil has been clear for quite some time, but it has never been so stark. What gives me pause is that they must think they're powerful enough to openly express their desire to kill to achieve their goals.

Following the links led to a HotAir.com article on the "No Pressure" video. Among the comments was this quote:

“We recognize that separating humanity from nature, from the whole of life, leads to humankind’s own destruction and to the death of nations. Only through a re-integration of humanity into the whole of nature can our people be made stronger. That is the fundamental point of the biological tasks of our age. Humankind alone is no longer the focus of thought, but rather life as a whole… This striving toward connectedness with the totality of life, with nature itself, a nature into which we are born, this is the deepest meaning and the true essence of National Socialist thought.

What is just staggering to me is that no one involved in this stopped and said "Wait a minute, what the hell are we doing? Blowing up children for our cause? Since when is that ok?"

"Well, Hezbollah odes it, and they're against Israel, and Israel is an oppressing minorities."

"Oh yeah. Carry on, then."

jsid-1286045620-127  Firehand at Sat, 02 Oct 2010 18:53:41 +0000

Heckman caught one of the things that keeps eating at me: these people apparently thought things were far enough along that a teacher killing kids, a boss killing employees who didn't fall into line, would not really bother people; and got all upset when the blowback hit.

Or were flat stupid enough to think that nobody other than themselves would actually see it?  It's hard to believe that; which means they thought their control of the message was so far advanced that they could get away with this without any real opposition.

ExurbanKevin, I guess they just thought their intentions are so golden and anyone who doesn't agree so evil that a teacher killing part of her class was no big deal.  Which tells us an awful lot about these people.

Ya know..  I have been having a more and more difficult time time with "GreenPeace".  With the work, the concept.

It seems like an oxymoron to me.  Kind of like PETA. (anything but ethical)

GreenPeace...  (Neither Green or Peaceful)

They keep on using that word.  I do not think it means what they think it means.

"This is what's known as a Freudian slip."
No Freudian slip. They probably think the time is right to come out into the open and start actively advocating this agenda.
Just a small step up from last year's cries for kangaroo courts and concentration camps for "deniers" (as we all know what would happen there...).

And of course not a peep from the regular media, who'd love to see such things happen so they'd have something nice and gory to report on and show their fervour for the correct way of thinking.

I still can't believe the 10:10 ad is not facetious.  It looks like something I would come up with to show the thinking of collectivists.  But collectivists keep surprising me by openly admitting that they're for things that I thought they would only be capable of after their humanity slowly faded with their actions.

I still don't even get the whole "no pressure" thing if it's supposed to be an honest ad.  I mean, I know they think they're saving people by killing people, but it just makes no sense.

To all of you who posted on this thread and have voiced a real fear: Your fear is misplaced.

Before any of this can happen, there will be a change of "the 'who'" that is on the other side from "us".

According to the numbers, and birth rates, world-wide, those of the Muslim faith will out-grow us within fifteen to twenty years (or was it less time?) . . . according to the pundits who prognosticate on these things.

The other day, I heard someone who is no longer of the Muslim faith say: There is no such thing as a moderate Muslim.

I also heard someone say: According to the Koran, a Muslim is allowed to tell any lie (s)he wishes as long as it is to protect them.

They have Mouhamad's permission to lie. That is why everytime a Muslim opens his/her mouth, all they say is "Peace" - which is the furtherist thing from their real intentions.

With those things in mind, if any or all the above is true, then we will have much more important things to worry about than the "going along to get along."

For those of you who are still in the child-bearing age, you might think about adding to the population - which would be the minimum of three children in order to replace yourselves plus one more. If all of child-bearing age did this, then our way of life would not disappear. Otherwise it will.
