My wife also liked your post- she obtained her license this year.

Yeah, this is who we need to target the most (sorry about the pun). If anybody needs a gun, its a women. They are, by nature, physically weaker than men. Its just how it is. The only way they can equal themselves in a fight is a gun.

When I met my girlfriend, she was an anti if there ever was one. We had many fights about it. Her argument always ended with "Well, if God wants me to die, then that's just how it is." Try arguing against that!

But now, after going to the range to help her get past her fear of guns, and after hearing about her friends you've had close calls with criminals, she's starting to come around.

Case in point- we went camping a couple of weeks ago. A cop had stopped by, just to check on us. He made a joke that most people don't camp where we were- usually its just crackheads out there. That put us on edge, of course. Then, in the middle of the night, some car parked sort of near us. Later we found out they were normal campers down from us, but we didn't know that at the time. Of course, I had my 1911 with me. I felt safe, but I kept a lookout just in case.

My girlfriend and my other friend (she's a Dem too) both later told me they were glad I kept a lookout- and that I had my gun.

I think the greatest argument is just experience. No amount of logic will overcome it.

Sam Colt didn't create the equality all by himself. Around here we credit Señor Rossi, who manufactured the top-break S&W clone which made the woman I married equal to the man who kicked in the door of her apartment.

She doesn't share my interest in guns as objects and mechanisms, but she's as militant as I am about the right to bear arms.
