Well, they ran off, but not quite empty handed.

"The suspects eventually got control of both the handgun and the shotgun." ... "all three fled taking the guns with them." "They ran off. Empty-handed. After one had been wounded."

sounds like they got the old guy's gun too? Hope the cops got it back for him when they nabbed the other 2 bozos.

This is a surprise.

I've been living in the area for the past few months and I haven't heard this on the news at all.

Yep, the radio news folks told us all about the drive-by shooting in the trailer park, but they didn't tell us about the gentleman from West Bloomfield (the nice part of the 'burbs) defending himself with a pistol.

Go figure.

Absolutely fabulous! Now if *every household* had weapons and all members of it were as proficient as this guy, whaddya suppose would happen to the rate of home invasions and armed robberies?

On the other side of the same topic: My fiance was watching Law & Order last nite, and the plot line was that anyone who actually witnesses a shooting is "infected with a disease" that then makes them want to shoot someone else. No kidding.
