I'm pleasantly surprised, you should know from "dreck". I would never have guessed it......

I started it in High School, but since my taste in reading is for personal entertainment and not for "self improvement" I just couldn't finish it. I admire her from a distance now. With a father as a preacher I already had enough of people telling me what to see or how think, and I was not predisposed to read another sermon, and I can smell sermon from a mile away and under water.

I can see that you didn't care for the book. I like her non-fiction essays and the speech she gave at West Point in 1972 much better.
But with all that has happened since last November, I no long care what sort of writer she is, I have come to the conclusion that her vision of what would happen to America makes her a prophet.

Her essays are excellent and are proving to be prophetic. I've quoted from her West Point speech and I've mentioned her education essay "The Comprachicos" numerous times.

Her essays are excellent. Her fiction, not so much.

Read Atlas Shrugged in high school.

Hated. It.

The Fountinhead, was also long. Maybe a third of what atlas shrugged is, but it was a pretty decent read.

However, anthem is probably her briefest novel. It's by far her most efficient novel i've read.
