This proposal is withdrawn in favor of SB 6860 as sponsored by Sen. Roach,
which is a much better way to approach this.

Please ask Sen. Roach to introduce SB 6860 again in the next legislative
session, ask your senator to co-sponsor, and ask your representative to
sponsor or co-sponsor a similar bill in the House.

Section (3)(f) of WAC 478-120-020 presently reads:

  (f) Possession or use of firearms, explosives, dangerous chemicals or other
  dangerous weapons or instrumentalities on the university campus, except for
  authorized university purposes, unless prior written approval has been
  obtained from the university chief of police, or any other person designated
  by the president of the university (see WAC 478-124-020 (2)(e))(legal
  defense sprays are not covered by this section);

Section (3)(f) of WAC 478-120-020 shall be amended to read:

  (f) Possession or use of firearms, explosives, dangerous chemicals or other
  dangerous weapons or instrumentalities on the university campus, except for
  authorized university purposes, unless prior written approval has been
  obtained from the university chief of police, or any other person designated
  by the president of the university (see WAC 478-124-020 (2)(e)) (legal
  defense sprays are not covered by this section); the prohibition of firearms
  and requirement of prior written approval shall not apply to persons who
  have been issued a license under RCW 9.41.070, or are exempt from the
  licensing requirement by RCW 9.41.060;
